30 days of setptember..

The day we received this play text i started reading it and the next day i finished reading it. at first this play a bit confusing but as read along i found out this play is interesting. it is about how a girl, Mala who always been haunted with her past memory and she could not over come it. the memory of being molested keep on appearing in her mind and she keep on blaming her mom because she could not help her as she was also the victim. however Mala was lucky she had Deepak who keep on helping her to change and help her to overcome her trauma. Mala was sexually abuse when she was a little girl and she had to live with the pain as she grow older. as this play goes along i can she how the conflict arise when her uncle come back to her how and Deepak her boyfriend convince her that he was the one who will take care of her and protect her. Mala slowly overcome her trauma with the help she receive from Deeepak.

I agree with you, ira. 30 days of September is interesting. You get to see how two person deals with the same problems differently. Both Mala and her mom, Shanta experienced the same traumatic experience of child molestation. Mala says that "pleasure is part of the pain" and because of that, she flirts with numerous men just to get their attention. However, Shanta faces the trauma in a totally different way. She devoted herself to God and willing to be the servant of God. Despite their differences, the play ends in a calm and happy mood. They accept each other and Mala slowly accepts the existence of a man in her life, Deepak.
